IntroductionEmployer services thru the Rideshare Etc service can assist businesses with setting up an alternative commuting resource for employees that help to save money, avoid traffic and parking hassles of commuting and contribute to a healthier community. The term Rideshare Etc. is used as an umbrella over all of the options- Metro Transit, State Vanpool, rideshare pools, bike commuting and park n ride lot options. The program is voluntary and the services are available at no charge or obligation. We offer a range of program options from introductory to comprehensive TDM (Transportation Demand Management) Plans. As an incentive to employees to participate the Guaranteed Ride Home service is included and offers free taxi vouchers (limit 6 per year, $75 per ride) for cases of an emergency as a safety net for employees who are concerned about being at work without a vehicle. Other incentives include free Metro Transit 10-ride cards so employees can try the bus on us. One-to-one assistance is also included for those employees that may have an interest in finding a convenient alternative for commuting to work so they can take advantage of the savings on transportation costs, which average $200/month. We can furnish all materials needed to establish a program including brochures, posters, announcements, Metro schedules/maps, State Vanpool route information, bike maps etc. to make it more convenient for employees to obtain information/assistance at their work site. A typical program is a one- or two day lunch hour drop in tabling event in the lunch room where a representative of the program is available to provide assistance and to answer questions and assist employees. We utilize the RidePro3 rideshare program software that provides a single source of commuter information on-line so employees can request a search quickly and easily based on their specific travel circumstances, to identify what services or other individuals are in their home area that are available options. Then, the employee can choose the option that is best for her or him, if any. We have worked with over two- hundred of the Madison area’s employers and believe this program can be a work place amenity for your company. The goal of the program is to reduce congestion and maintain air quality. Through these voluntary efforts we hope to avoid more serious levels of pollution and congestion in the Madison area. Thank you very much for your consideration. www.cityofmadison.com/rideshare www.rideshareetc.org Ward Paxton, Transportation Planner Planning Unit, City of Madison and Madison Transportation Planning Board 121 S.
