Bicycle Organizations

Customize the Dane County Map for Bicyclists using the free ArcReader for Windows.

·        Print page-sized maps of your area of interest.

·        Turn on/off map layers and change scale.

·        View local street names.

·        Search for map features.

·        Measure distances.

·        Use drawing tools.

 Instructions to get started:

    ·        Go to ArcReader for installation instructions.

    ·        Right-click, and download this Zip file with the Bicyclists Map and data.

    ·        Unzip the contents of the Zip file to your hard drive.

    ·        Start ArcReader, go to File, Open, and select the file named
    BikeMap (in the BikeMapPub\data\pmf folder of the files you unzipped).

    ·        To print a page-sized map: Go to File, Page Set Up. Select your
     printer and set Layout Settings to: Scale to Fit Page. Click OK.
     Then use the data zoom tool to window into your area of interest.
     A scale of 1:12000 (one inch = 1000 feet) is recommended for
     printing page-sized maps with street names.

Instructions to get started:

    ·        Go to Google Earth for installation instructions.

    ·        Download one or more these KML files:

        o       Bike Paths

        o       Bike Routes

        o       Biking Suitability for Roads with Paved Shoulders

        o       Biking Suitability for Roads without Paved Shoulders

        o       Bike/Ped Over/Underpasses

    ·        Start Google Earth. Go to File, Open, and select one or more of
    the KML files.
